Take Part or Just Relax

Life in a care home should be a continuation of the life that residents wished to live before at home, simply made a little more accessible with the help of our dedicated team. While we encourage independent living and healthy eating, helping residents to live a full and active life, there are absolutely no expectations of anybody. If you’d prefer to sit and relax in the comfort of your own room, then there is absolutely no obligation to participate in our elderly care home activities. An Elderly Care Home With A Difference

The Little Luxuries

We also have an on-site hair and beauty salon, so our senior residents can enjoy a little pampering or relax in our spa bath. All of this is surrounded by our lovely landscaped gardens, offering our residents an opportunity to spend time outdoors, enjoying the fresh air. We have beautiful lawns and patio areas, with plenty of outdoor seating space for our elderly care home residents to sit back and enjoy the sun. At our independent living care home, we encourage our residents to continue doing the things they enjoyed before starting their time at Jackman’s Lodge.

ABOUT US

Steeped In History

Our name is steeped in history, with Jackman’s Lodge taking its name from the local Jackman’s Nursery. Founded in the early 19th century on 50 acres of land in St. John’s, near to the Jackman’s Lodge location, the nursery was made famous by the founder’s son, George Jackman.

Our Inspiration

George’s name was written into horticultural history thanks to his work on early clematis hybrids. Notably the first of the modern large-flowered hybrid clematises of gardens – the Clematis Jackmanii – was awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s First-Class Certificate in August 1863. It’s this beautiful climber that inspired the Jackman’s Lodge logo. Keep an eye out for its rich purple flowers when you’re exploring our garden, along with the large, rare and established trees brought back to St. John’s by the Jackman family.

Family Centred Care

A Friendly Face, A Help In Hand

No matter how incredibly comfortable we make Jackman’s Lodge or how delicious the freshly-cooked food is in the restaurant, it would all be in vain if it wasn’t for our expert team. It’s the people that make the biggest difference within our elderly care home, and we believe we have the best. Our hand-picked, highly-qualified team members have joined us from a diverse range of backgrounds and bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experiences. Our close-knit team is what makes us different from other independent living care homes, due to our ability to really get to know our residents and the high level of care we are able to provide.

Yes, attending to the everyday essentials is part of their job, but those little moments of kindness and those friendly faces all around are what we think make Jackman’s Lodge a special assisted living care home – and they can even make someone’s day.

Residents’ Charter

Here at Jackman’s Lodge, we put our senior residents first in all that we do – and of course, you would expect nothing less. To ensure that we never lose sight of this, we set ourselves high standards; our Residents’ Charter is a declaration of rights that centres on our core values and encompasses fulfilment, dignity, autonomy, individuality and esteem.
